HTC clarifies not eyeing Nokia India plant

HTC has clarified that it is not considering buying Nokia India's handset manufacturing plant based on the outskirts of Chennai.

HTC said that as a company it "continually invests into potential businesses", but isn't looking at Nokia's plant specifically.

In an interview with ET on April 21, HTC was asked if it would consider buying Nokia India's manufacturing plant, if it was up for sale to any other party other than Microsoft.

"I am not aware of the situation but I am happy to look into it, because the overall preparation, exploration hinges upon if it will serve consumers better. If that will do that, then we'll definitely do that. I don't know the details well. But would be happy to look further into it," Chialin Chang, HTC's Chief Financial Officer told ET.
